As part of my final project at the Canadian Film Centre's Slaight Music Residency, I was tasked with recording an original composition which will be eventually set to video (more about that later!) and posted online. I chose to record a piece for choir and orchestra, "Lamb of God", that I'd written a few years ago for the Church of the Redeemer back when I was their composer-in-residence.
My amzaingly talented girlfriend Zahra Saleki snapped these photos of the recording session:
I've signed on to score the upcoming feature-length documentary "The Babushkas of Chernobyl", an extraordinary film about a community of Ukrainian women who returned to their irradiated villages after the nuclear disaster, defying mandatory evacuation orders, to live out their final days in their traditional lifestyle on the land they love in spite of the dangers of radiation.
Just got back from an amazing trip to Los Angeles with my fellow Slaight Music Residents at the Canadian Film Centre. Among the many highlights was seeing our name in print in Hollywood Reporter, following a gala party that announced Marc Jordan as the new chair of the songwriting program at the CFC. It was nice to get some sunshine too!
